Dear Parents,

Next Monday and Tuesday is our Halloween Parade and Party! Here’s what Sarah sent out in case you missed it-

Our Halloween Parades will be Monday, October 29th at 9:10 for the MW(F) class and Tuesday, October 30th at 9:10 for the TTH(F) class.  When you arrive your child will join us in the block room and you can go to the back yard and line the bike path.  We will parade around 2 times and end in the block room.  Please arrive on time because as you can imagine, it’s a pretty quick parade :)

 

After the parade we will resume with a normal morning and the children will enjoy free choice and snack time as usual.  During small groups the preschool and pre-k classes will come together for singing and some fun activities that they can move through including face painting, a pumpkin walk, necklace making, bean bag toss and cookie decorating.  There will be a sign up sheet posted above the sign in table if you would like to volunteer to send in one of the items needed for the cookie decorating.  As a reminder, all requested items must be NUT FREE and no candy may be brought to school.

 

Costumes are completely optional for the parade. If your child would like to wear one, we ask the following things:

·         Please have your child arrive in costume.

·         After the parade, please help your child change out of their costume and in to their clothes.

·         Please take all costume parts home after the parade so nothing is lost or ruined at school.

·         Please no weapons or scary costumes.

 

*On Wednesday and Thursday we will be making a spider web and learning about spiders.

A parent asked me how to grow pumpkins with her children for next year: This is so easy and fun!
Take a pumpkin that is not carved- poke a hole in it after halloween and bury it in the ground. The pumpkin decomposes and turns into good dirt, the seeds are protected for a while (in the pumpkin) By next summer, they should start coming up. Make sure to bury a pumpkin of the variety that you want for the next year. A few years ago I got 14 pumpkins from burying one pumpkin. Make sure to plant next to a flowering plant that attracts bees (to pollinate the pumpkin flower)
